Set in the world of Babylon 5, during the beginning stages of a zombie outbreak, we begin with our arrival onto the station.
Everest - a telepathic prizefighter
Everest and her team stepped out of the airlock, taking a moment to adjust their eyes to the dimly lit corridor. She glanced around, safety instincts kicking in as she surveyed her surroundings. The station was quiet - too quiet for what should have been a bustling hub for trade and travel. The sound of soft footsteps echoed from down the way, followed by hushed voices speaking in whispers. A chill ran up Everest's spine as a smell like rot filled her nose - an unmistakable sign that things were far from normal on Babylon 5. She exchanged looks with her companions before they silently crept further into the station, weapons at the ready...
Everest slowly continued down the corridor, looking for any signs of survivors. To her left were two members of her squad - a dark-haired woman and a bald man with tattoos running up his arms. Both had their weapons raised, eyes darting around the shadows. The further they went, the stronger the smell of rot became until Everest was certain that it was coming from somewhere close by. Suddenly there came a scream from one of the adjoining corridors and all three team members froze in their tracks...
Everest's voice echoed through the corridor, her words puncturing the stillness of the station. She looked over at her companions with a question in her eyes - what had they just heard? The dark-haired woman shook her head slightly and gestured for them to keep moving forward. They crept further down the hallway until they reached an open door leading into one of the crew quarters. Inside, a figure lay on its back in a pool of blood, its skin pale and greyish like that of a corpse. Everest stepped closer, feeling sick to her stomach as she noticed how it was twitching ever so slightly...
Everest's voice echoed through the room, but there was no response from the figure on the ground. She took a step closer and noticed that its eyes were open - not quite focusing on anything in particular as they darted around erratically. The smell of rot was almost unbearable now, and Everest could feel her stomach churning as she realised what had happened here. She turned to her companions with dread in her eyes before speaking again: "We need to get out of here - now."
